Alive but not living….Mercy & Grace

God was talking to his people when He asked for them to choose between life and death.

But then he suggested Life….Deu. 30:19

The Bible says, “For lack of knowledge my people perish”.

God says, “The words i speak are Spirit and they are Life”.

As an explanation, the following two lines should bring you home;

So we sometimes say “this is the life”, or maybe,

“We have to have fun – life is short”. Well, it’s quite a close comparison to this text.

 “I see princes walking and servants on horseback” – Eccl 10:7 – A Christian can be in such a paradoxical situation as the one above.

This is a direct analogy for what I’m getting at.

The Christian life on earth has to do with the following;

Two things to consider: Grace and Mercy. These two are both under the salvation package.

Grace-together with mercy – came and still comes from Christ to all those who believe upon him.

Mercy alone – however – spreads out from grace across the whole human race. Mercy is the plea that stands for the unbeliever to accept salvation through Christ.

 From the book of Psalms, we hear of David understanding why the wicked do not perish quickly enough. We see that their deeds place them on a slippery path (Psalm 73:18), however, the time they have now is opportunity to accept redemption – That’s Mercy.

The matter at hand is however a focus on the children of God.

Why are some Princes on foot while servants are on horseback?

Now lets look at Grace and Mercy – as both apply to all believers.

Grace is a gift. We can’t walk in it without knowing it. That’s why our first act of receiving grace is knowing or hearing the gospel. Scripture puts it this way;

how can they be saved if they do not hear, how can they hear if there is no preacher to preach the gospel … .Romans 10:14

So what do we need to know?

Know that the grace of God is a gold mine. In the case of the Prince being on Horse-back (Rightful place). The maturing Christian gets revelation on what God says is his or hers and works out their faith to move in step with what they have come to understand.

An example of such revelations/ Promises are;

•that we have attained the power through Christ to cast out devils.

•that through Christ we can heal and be healed.

•the ability to decree a thing for its establishment… .

However for the Prince who is in the stead of the servant, He is a Prince by default – A Christian – but has not heard, made use of…, or searched out his or her privilege as royalty.

For them, anything goes. failing to realise that there in the word of God are truths that have to be acted upon.

For lack of knowledge, my people perish! The words – my people – is analogous to Christians.

A typical person in this category would rely only on God’s mercy, in a state of begging, rather than the fully bloomed choice of adding up grace.

Issues like chaos and sickness and bondage seem to be a norm. Even in some cases, to some Christians, poverty is established as a literal calling.

Such Christians pray, but more often do so amiss. [for there are different types of prayers for different types of situation and also there is prayer that is outside God’s will].

 So in such a case, in affliction, God in his mercy goes out of his way – through matured Christians/shepherds or even anyone – to breathe life into their situation.

In other words, it becomes difficult to receive what has not even been acknowledged.

Indeed these two states of “living and not living“are distinctly apart. However in reality, more Christians tend to be unstable – going in and out from being royalty to servant-hood and back again….

It stems on us to know who we are in Christ and Live as Christ wants us to live.

As winners! For we are indeed, in all sense of the phrase – more than conquerors.

There is a lot to discover in the Word of God.

Lets seek and live out the truths in this wonderful book.

After all, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing, by the word of God.

This life was meant for living, so let’s do exactly that! 😀
